The State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) Scholarship Fund was established in honor of the founders and volunteers of SDFCU to help our members with undergraduate college expenses.
Each year, SDFCU sponsors a scholarship competition where the funds are distributed among winners selected by the scholarship committee.
How the Scholarship Program Works
Each year the SDFCU Board of Directors approves a dollar amount to be distributed among winning applicants selected by the Scholarship Committee. In addition, one top scholarship recipient will be awarded the Stephen K. Fischel Memorial Scholarship with its own dollar amount in lieu of the regular scholarship amount.
All applicants must be current SDFCU members in good standing. In addition, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and have completed 12 credit hours of coursework at an accredited college or university (AP class credits do not count).
Achieved a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit official/sealed transcripts
Completed application form and all required documents, including tuition bill, W2 forms, personal statement, and official transcript, must be submitted by the deadline.
2021 Scholarship Application
The Scholarship program application process is now open and runs through to April 9, 2021.

All applications and materials must be postmarked no later than Friday, April 9, 2021. No exceptions. If any part of the application is incomplete, it will not be eligible for the competition.
Winners will be notified by email by July 9, 2021.
Winners will receive their award in their SDFCU account.
